Such stunning butterflies...the color just amazes me.

AH! The Blue Morpho was once my favorite butterfly, then I discovered the Metallic Blue Morpho. :D

But the Comet Moth is still my most favorite winged critter ;D

It's hard to say if I have any favorites, there are so many that I like. But the Comet Moth is certainly at the top of that list! They got them in at the conservatory the year that they got butterflies and moths from different countries. Not sure if I got any good pictures of one, I will have to check! =D

Oooh! You should SO get a picture of Comet Moth! :D I'd buy that in a heartbeat!!

I FIIIIINALLY managed to track down a gorgeous, stunning, and perrrrrrfect specimen of a Madagascar Comet Moth from the Butterfly Sanctuary on Mackinaw Island in Michigan, the same day Tom proposed to me on the island, lol! He bought the moth for me right before he proposed. He said he almost did so in the butterfly house, but decided to do it up on the mountain instead, lol. It's the most perfect Comet Moth specimen I have ever seen! And it's uber big, too. The artist-guy who posed and mounted it did so very well. :]

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I went through all the files I took that year when they had the Comet Moth and I didn't get one good shot. For one thing, their setup at the conservatory is not all that great. They need to send someone to the Butterfly House to get some ideas. And then, for some reason the ones they had, when they emerged from their cocoons, their tails did not straighten out, but stay short and curly. Now last year they got a few Comet Moths in at the Butterfly House, ($ewm and I had been bugging them to get some) I didn't get to see them but *Stargem got a really nice shot of one. Look at those perfectly long tails! [link] Maybe they will get them in again some day.
